Birth Story

Zach and I went into Lakeview Hospital at 7:30 on April 12th, to be started! My original due date wasn't till the 17th, but Kypton was measuring big, and My doctor didn't want to take the chance of a C-Section( which i'm grateful for) We got there and our room was being cleaned, so we had to sit in the waiting room for about 45 min. I was really anxious! Once they got my room cleaned, they took me in there and started my IV, worst thing ever! They couldn't get it threaded in my vain so they had to keep doing it over and over again. They finally got it in, and started me on "PIT" When I went in I was already dialated to a 2. By about 11 I had dialated to a 5, and was ready for my epidural. I tried to go as long as i could without it, so that I would progress faster. Which it didn't slow me down. By 230 I was at a 9 1/2. Everyone guessed I would have him by 5.....WRONG! I was stuck at a 9 1/2 for quite a while! By about 4 I started getting really uncomfortable...and feeling like I needed to push...Sorry for the gross details, but I was so paranoid I was gonna poop my bed, because that was the feeling I had.  So I asked Zach to ask everyone to leave the room. At this point I had a break down, because I didn't really know why I was feeling like I needed to poop every few min. And I was uncomfortable with everyone in the room.  Zach went and got the nurse, and I told her what I was feeling, and she said thats a good thing...that means I could be ready to push.  She went and got my doctor, and my doctor told me to start pushing, and then he left.  I pushed for about an hour, when my doctor came back in to check on me.  Kyptons poor BIG head was stuck in the birth canal, and I couldn't push him down.  Finally my doctor decided to get the vacuum out....at this point, I was in so much pain, and I was so exausted that I begged my mom to let me quit, and just get a C-Section, I didn't think I could push any more, and I could feel everything!  Being my first time.....I didn't really know to ask for more epidural medicine...so I let it go to long, My doctor had the anesthesioligist come give me a full dose of medicine, so I wouldn't be in anymore pain, and I could go on to push.  Once that happened...I felt ten times better!  I continued to push, and the doctor was trying to get his head out with the vacuum, and it was just not working....it kept slipping off Kyptons head. After about a Half hour he used a stronger Vacuum and within about 15 min. My baby Kypton was out!  It was the happiest moment of my life. Such a relief to know he was here and healthy! At this point it was 640. I had been pushing for 2 hours, and was starting to get a high temp. and unfortunately Kypton had a temp of 103.2 which was kinda scary, and they were worried about infection for the both of us.  They tested everything...and everything was normal! I had a healthy 8lb baby boy!  Although my labor wasn't as easy as I had expected, It was all worth it, I love every second of being a mom!!
